What I really want to know, is why the E170/E190 program was scrapped at Midwest? You guys had the chance to fly these airplanes. I understand management wanted the YX pilots to do it for a lower rate, but at least you as a pilot group had an opportunity to bargain with management. At RAH, we don't have that opportunity except in our overdue CBA. I write this more as a sincere question than a criticism.
Midwest pilots have been in negotiations for 10-11 months. Started federal mediations in April.
Republic and Delta are going to play Midwest pilots against Republic pilots to get the lowest crew costs. JetBlue set the new industry standard for the E190 and we have to make sure Republic/Delta pay that crew cost at Midwest.
Midwest ALPA and Republic Teamsters have to stand their ground to protect the future earnings of our profession.
