CAL would be stupid to send a Q to even any of our destinations from the Saab. The Q is needed at a greater range more that of a RJ, like OKC, TUL, hell even DFW cause the huge loads. BTR, LBB. Cant wait till they get here.
you are absolutely right and wrong. The saab doesnt need to keep flying. The dash 200-300 is a pretty solid airplane with a better maintenance record and customer satisfaction level than the saab. spare parts are getting harder to find for the saabs (americans reason for dropping them). also the 1900s operated by gulfstream have worked out well for CAL in CLE. Commutair and gulfstream are both competing for that Colgan flying that is currently being done by the Saab. With the Q coming online in houston i think they are looking at diversifying the fleet. Fitting the 1900 into the really small jobs and the smaller dash's into everywhere that doesnt justify a q400. It is my guess that the additional q's for colgan coming online will actually be a reduction in the # of airframes that colgan is currently flying for CAL.
