I had a feeling this was going to happen. Doesn't even matter, it is all worthless. I had to go to SLC last week, and I bought a one-way ticket on Southwest, because I needed to make sure I could get there. I figured I'll non-rev back and save myself some money. First off all, most of the flight have been downgraded to RJs from MD-90/B737s, so that eliminates a ton of seats right there. I get to the airport and I get my seat request card and it shows S3B (I'm furloughed). It is a Delta Connection flight operated by Mesaba (Used to be a MD90 flight not too long ago!). Of course when I get to the gate, there are 3 seats open and I'm about No. 6 on the standby list. Of course I didn't get on. I checked TravelNet and I see the rest of the flights for today are either full or oversold. I said screw it and I ended up buying a last minute ticket on Southwest so I could get home. Seems like I wasn't the only one, because when I got to the Southwest gate, all the other non-revs that were at the DL gate decided to take Southwest as well.

The point is, with all the reduction in flights and aircraft equipment, it doesn't really matter what Boarding priority you have. If the flight is oversold and passengers can't even get on, you as a non-rev won't get on either. I personally don't have the patience for non-revin' anyway, so I'm going to buy a ticket from now on. If an employer wants me to resign my seniority number with Comair, I have absolutely no problem with that. 1) I won't get recalled, 2) I ain't going back to Comair IF I would get recalled, 3) The flight benefits are crap.
