What the hell, I'll refute some of the necrothread bumpage...
The CRJ has a cabin that is 1.4 FEET wider than the E145 cabin. I flew the CRJ and am probably biased but I prefer its 2x2 arrangement to the ERJ's 1x2 arrangement...the single-seat side loses too much foot room due to the roll of the smaller cabin. I also preferred the CRJ jumpseat to that of the ERJ and the CRJ cockpit is quiet compared to the ERJ.
ERJ does not have a "banana" (forget its real name) to show where you'll be on a climb or descent when you hit the selected altitude.
And RJs weren't designed to be flown by low-time pilots...they were designed with simple, automated systems to reduce pilot workload which improves safety. Like every airplane designed since ergonomics and human factors have been studied has been designed.
