Training info
Training skeds totally depend upon the needs of UPS. Generally, for new hires, the first month or so of training will be week on - week off. Yes, you would have time to get home, as long as your commute isn't too far. But, remember, if you miss a jumpseat back to class, as a new hire, that wouldn't look too good. Once you get into aircraft-specific training, there is no standard. It is totally dependant on instructor and sim availability. No 2 skeds will look alike. You could have 5 days off between blocks or 2 days. You never know what will be thrown your way. So, it is hard to give you a cookie-cutter type of answer.
As for hotels, yes, UPS provides you with a hotel up to your sim check. After that, it is crashpad time. Which hotel they are using now, I'm not sure. In the past 1.5 years, I've heard of newhires staying in 3 different hotels.
