UPS Sept 12th class
#21
Training skeds totally depend upon the needs of UPS. Generally, for new hires, the first month or so of training will be week on - week off. Yes, you would have time to get home, as long as your commute isn't too far. But, remember, if you miss a jumpseat back to class, as a new hire, that wouldn't look too good. Once you get into aircraft-specific training, there is no standard. It is totally dependant on instructor and sim availability. No 2 skeds will look alike. You could have 5 days off between blocks or 2 days. You never know what will be thrown your way. So, it is hard to give you a cookie-cutter type of answer.
As for hotels, yes, UPS provides you with a hotel up to your sim check. After that, it is crashpad time. Which hotel they are using now, I'm not sure. In the past 1.5 years, I've heard of newhires staying in 3 different hotels.

RVR,
Good post as usual, but I do offer one small correction. The company will provide hotel through IOE, you just have to ask for it. I only bring it up because it is worth a few extra bones and every bit counts on our pathetic first year pay rates. Congrats to guys getting ready to show up. You will like it here, good luck in training and welcome aboard.

Thanks turkeydrvr! I'm glad that folks can get a room longer. It would definitely help. It's stressful enough getting through your checkride than to have to try to find a place to live.
Hey v2,
Our union newspaper has a classified section in it that will have available crashpads. Some are also listed in our online message board. Or just by taliking to folks while in the training center you can find places. Me and my classmates just went out driving around the hotel and looked at different areas of the city to find our pad. There are places everywhere (good and bad).

According to our latest union hotline, we are hiring and training as fast as our training center allows, that's probably only 25 per month....

I was hired with 11000+ hours, 3000+ 757/767, furloughed from a major etc... and there were several others with similar experience. Also a lot of guys with heavy (KC-10) military time.
