As a Former Comair Guy, I can safely say the best way to get to the Major airlines is stay away from Comair. I told this to my FO's 3 yrs, "go to republic or Chat. or somewhere all you will do here is collect dust." Every guy said the same thing, "I dont want to give up my seniority or start over (most guys had less then 2.5 yrs at comair)." No telling where they would be at. So, my friend if you want to get to the major airlines, get a job where you can get PIC quick, with in 2.5 yrs--Most everyone should be hiring by then. DO NOT SIT ON YOUR HANDS AND ROT AT COMAIR
Well I avoided Comair on purpose when I applied to the regionals. I avoided all Delta carriers on purpose. (I'm not at Comair).
I decided to work at the NWA wholly owned because it was the best at the time. Upgrades were happening quickly and that meant I would have been building PIC quickly. I want to work for a major ASAP.
Now since the merger I am now a part of the DCI crap I was avoiding and things are moving backwards!
