Since I retired about 18 months ago after 20 years AD I can't transfer my GI Bill. Anyone else in this same situation? I'm considering signing up for some courses at some point and taking the benefits for my dependents' college fund. I believe a veteran who uses the benefits gets a living allowance equal to an E-5 or something close to that. I could take those funds and sock 'em away for the kids. Online courses would be the best...maybe I would even try to pass the courses, but really as long as I have the allowances coming in I'm getting some of the benefit so I really don't care about the grade--just need to be able to take the courses and get the living allowance. At the end of it I may even get the $1200 I put into it during my first year of service. Of course I'd rather have the option of just transfering the tuitition benefits to my children, but since the DoD and congress don't think enough of my service to have allowed for that this seems to be the next best option. Any one else considering similar COA?
