I do take exception to being told (imply) I am not a good union member by some people who have no official function other than to read tea leaves and interpret what ALPA policy should be.
I have never said, nor do I think you are not a good union member. We just don't agree on some things, which isn't a big deal. I don't think you have an ulterior motive, but sometimes it seems like when you disagree with someone you throw out things that are like red meat around here like 4.a.2b, FDA, and mistrust of our representatives due to previous transgressions even when they don't really fit the current argument. That's why I threw in that Family Guy joke from an episode when Lois just says '9/11' a bunch of times in a debate to win an election.
As for 4.a.2.b, clearly that is something that needs to and will be addressed in the next contract. It's clear from the membership side and our leadership has made it clear that it will be addressed as well in their communications. Do I think it's a good thing to talk about potential solutions to it right now? Probably not, but in far greater part because of the fact that we are still in 4.a.2.b with an active grievance playing out then because of the effect it would have on the NC's job.
I guess we will have to disagree here, what a shock.
That was my best guess based on previous experience, honestly I'd like to know what guys like TonyC and Albie who have been on both sides think about that question.
