Every employee, no matter where employed, needs to protect themselves at all times. Why would you say UPS is any different? I have been a part of a delay and flown with those who have caused delays and do not know of one who was fired for that alone. Also, failed checkrides will not get you fired here. Go ask those who have failed and those who were "bought out" because they could not pass an upgrade. It is very very hard to lose you job here because you lack the skills to do your job.
