If you read this board, you would think recalls aren't likely until the end of time. I wouldn't be so sure though. Much to my surprise, the rebound in the economy seems to far more robust than anyone thought. That doesn't mean everyone who had a job will get it back right away, but I think you could see some recalls for the spring and summer flying in 2010.

I have several friends who fly for Republic and they tell me all of the time they are understaffed to the point where they are being called for overtime often. They also tell me that sometimes, captains are flying as FO's. That suggests underatffing of some sort and it backs up a story that appeared on CNBC a few weeks ago.

The article stated companies that laid off many workers are beginning the process of rehiring some workers. They're not calling back as many as they need though because many CEO's still are uncertain about an economic rebound. If the rebound is as many economists are now saying, then the hand of managment might be forced as demand for flying picks up.

Juts a positive thought.
