I know many union officials who regularly give up there free time for union business. No compensation for time or pay. Only for there acrued expenses and should they be working there flight pay loss. I know of several people who for months on end only had 7 days off or less.. 7- days because they are out trying to make a difference for you, even if they arn't succeeding. There is no compensation for volunteering on days off.

So you are angry because your dues pay for the flight pay that they lost during there service to you. What do you want, for your volunteers to take a paycut because they are volunteering to make try to make stuff better? So your safety reps, when they are on scene at an accident, should have to give up a years pay, to try to figure out what happened. Your pilot reps should have to give up there flight pay every time they defend a pilot for doing something stupid? etc, etc?

3.How greedy are you sir, Yes 2% of your pay is significant. But ya know what, when was the last time you gave anything other than what was the minimum required of you? 4.Before you cast a stone, get out there and try to fix it yourself. Volunteer some, try to make a difference.

WE are ALPA.
1. You got that right. ALPA is definitely flawed. ALPA is responsible for negotiating a contract that makes it financially prohibitive to leave your airlinr for a better one no matter how crappy yours is. Nobody wants to go back to day 1 FO pay again. Way to go ALPA.

2. Everybody has an angle for doing the things they do. Most members of congress are already multi millionaires before they enter office. I suppose they choose to only make 150K a year instead of their usual millions out of the kindness of their hearts. At my airline people often use the goonion to springboard their way to a permanent goonion position or to get to mainline. I doubt most people have as noble intentions as you seem to think they do.

3. I am extremely greedy. Thanks for asking. I do this job for money. That is what separates us from the hobbyists. I want to make as much of it as I can as fast as I can. APLA is doing a bang up job making sure I do neither. But hey, now I can ASAP fatigue calls. Maybe I can complete the ASAP while I wait at the welfare office.

4. I would try to fix things myself, but without a national seniority system and a predetermined pay scale, my hands are kind of tied. Thanks APLA.
