Well, instead of using some ancient minimum revenue number to classify a carrier as a "major" ($1B/yr I believe) why don't we just call an airline a major if they meet that threshold AND derive that revenue from a schedule that they choose. If the carrier's schedule is dictated by another company's management, then they are a sub-contractor ACMI provider, not a major airline by any stretch of imagination.
