You actually have hundreds in service today. Rolls Royce is a senior partner in IAE. UAL became the worlds largest operator of IAE V2500 powered A320's a few years ago. The V2500 is basically a 2 spool derivative of the Rolls Royce RB211.
For several years, Mark King of Rolls Royce was president of IAE but recently took a promotion at Rolls and is now in charge of Civil Aerospace.
The only US Major not operating Rolls Royce is SWA as Rolls has no engine for the 737.
