Welcome to the show. The 737 and lots of A320's are powered by CFM's which are made by GE and SNECMA of France, with the rest of the A320's powered by IAE. The MD-90 has IAE's as well and the 717 has BMW/Rolls. It's probably more about risk-sharing and lower development costs. Look at the way Boeing and Airbus have setup their latest aircraft programs.
