I know two people that did their initial CFI in a twin and then did a single engine add on. I think that is a much more difficult way to handle it, but you do get to build up your multi-engine time that way. The second person that did it, had to becuase he had taken out loans that were "managed" by the school we trained at and they were forced out of business by loss of their lease. So, he had to burn off the outstanding balance of his loans in a hurry, or he would have lost the money in the school's bankruptcy. He's had a difficult time finding multi-engine students since then, has hardly flown in the twin and is now working on the single engine add on.

I think its a great idea to work on the II in a twin.
