Correction - Skywest Inc did furlough - and the threat of furlough was a real possibility this summer for Skywest Airline pilots. ASA had never furloughed until they were brought under the Skywest Inc umbrella. Why do you think Skywest Inc would furlough out of ASA and run short staffed but not Skywest when they could have?
2. There is no eminent demise of UAL, BTW I think ASA has some soon to be pilots whose jobs are tied to future UAL flying?
Seems this was brought up to point out how tied to United's fortunes (good or ill) Skywest Inc is. Delta's demise in not likely eminent either, however if Delta sinks, ASA will also. It works both ways and I don't think anyone was hoping for United or Delta to fail here.
3. There is no "one list", never been talked about, would not benefit Inc., Skywest pilots for the most part dont want anything to do with "one list"
Correct, there is not a list, but there should be - both sides would benefit from a merged list. For example, how happy is the Skywest pilot group with the new health care plan? Also, at some point the Skywest pilot group will be told to take some other concession or lose out on growth like ASA is being told with PBS.
4. Yes ASA is owned by the same corporation, but is and will remain a completely separate airline.
Why do some people think that because a company bought a airline that the seniority lists should be combined? That is what happens in a merger, this in no way what soever in anyway is a merger. ASA remains a separate company that can be sold or dismantled at anytime.
There's the real kicker! Is this what you actually want, for ASA to be dismantled so Skywest can grow? I guess it's tough to see the need for a united pilot group when your side is receiving the benefits of the whipsaw game, but try to place yourself in the other man's shoes.
BTW, what do you think would happen to the Frontier and Midwest pilot groups if Republic's multiple airlines did not have one list and require all airlines purchased to be under the same list?
