DALPA's Scope is for certificated seats not installed seats. There are also certain weight restrictions like for the EMB-175's(except Compass). The -700's are certificated at 70 seats. Actually there is room for more 70 seat a/c. Only the 76 seat a/c are maxed out.
Thanks for the info Bubba. I too was under the impression that regionals had removed seats in the past to get around SCOPE. Now I'm curious how a certificated seat number for a specific aircraft is handled when the airline wants to do a mod like this, or High Density, etc.? Does the FAA have to amend the certification? ("Wild, whacky, nutty stuff")
