When you actually kill the engine you have put yourself in an actual emergency situation. If you can't get it restarted, then you could have a big problem, especially if you are not within gliding distance of an actual airport.

I dont think you would gain anything out of actually killing the engine. Too much can go wrong, and their is no reason why it should be done. I would advise against doing it.
