It seems like every time management comes to a pilot group with a new aircraft type we jump for joy without thinking of the pay rate for that equipment. The naive are the ones who are too excited for "expansion" and a shiny airplane to care about the career. Thats why you see 74 seat turbo-props and 99 seat RJ's flying for the same old rate that those companies used to pay for saabs and 50 seat rjs respectively. It really is self defeating.

Pilots need to realize our own worth before we take another step towards a our current future of somebody being happy retiring at a regional making 80 grand a year. Look at the article on airlinepilotcentral.com about how our medical standards are becoming more strict while our jobs have entailed longer hours, less pay, less time off off, and more stressfull then in the past. We are doing this to ourselves.
