CAL needs/wants widebody lift, AK doesnt give them that. It gives them access but still would leave them with a huge expense of adding lift to fit the access. UAL comes with access and lift.
yes finding planes would be a large debt burden but it can't be more then the debt burden that UAL already has and would be bringing to the combined carrier.
