I am a consultant and most of my work has been with airline executives (not line pilots). I just see the job fairs as a waste of time and money, so maybe that's why I offended both of you. This particular friend is not in the airline business and when you look at the cost of travel, hotel, fees and other expenses it all adds up too more than I would pay. So who is Stephanie Grantham? I did the web search as you recommended and found a Stephanie Grantham with AirTran on a social networking site, but it doesn't mention a thing about pilots.
Back to my original question. Is this job fair thing a bogus deal or not? I think I am going to call Ms. Grantham.
I tried to get a call from Southwest and AirTran for years without luck. I didn't want to give Kit Darby any of my money but ran out of options so paid for the job fair. Job fair on Saturday, Southwest called on Thursday, AirTran called on the following Monday. If I knew that was all it took, I would have gone to the Job Fair years before.
