I didn't feel disrepected in the least. I have dealt with executives like Bob Crandall formerly at AA - also know as "Fang". Some of you might know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the feedback and advice.

TurboCheez -

Stephanie Grantham is a very sincere, genuine lady - I've known her and worked with her in the industry for years. We were both recruiters and regularly attended job fairs together, representing our respective airlines.

Job fairs in the pilot profession are not a waste of money if the company you want to work for is present. Spending a few minutes in person with the recruiter will net you valuable feedback as to your competitive level and most likely suggestions on where to improve competitiveness. The folks who attend the fairs usually include the person in charge of granting interviews, and perhaps that person carries even more weight within their airline... you never know. Stephanie IS the pilot recruiter for AirTran and the very best person to talk to for information and direction.

The money spent for this gal to meet Stephanie is certainly not wasted - as long as she listens to the advice provided. I hope she enjoys herself at this event and networks with every person she encounters.

Hope this helps to settle the nerves.

The official FO hiring position opened 1 April. There were calls placed last week for interviews yesterday and today.

Most anyone getting their ratings in today's world will spend that or more when combined with college costs. Go private through MEI and you'll drop around 70K...college at least 40k and up...

Why go to college. This is a rich kid and her dad can buy that job.

Add that to the $100K and other money spent on education and training and it's considerable.

APC has been a good source of information for me and I appreciate b82rez verifying her name.

So who is Stephanie Grantham? I did the web search as you recommended and found a Stephanie Grantham with AirTran on a social networking site, but it doesn't mention a thing about pilots.

Back to my original question. Is this job fair thing a bogus deal or not? I think I am going to call Ms. Grantham.
I tried to get a call from Southwest and AirTran for years without luck. I didn't want to give Kit Darby any of my money but ran out of options so paid for the job fair. Job fair on Saturday, Southwest called on Thursday, AirTran called on the following Monday. If I knew that was all it took, I would have gone to the Job Fair years before.
