Has anyone figured out how many additional pilots the company would have needed, pre-4A2b, if there wasn't a carryover capability? And I then wonder how many of them would have been furloughed back when they initiated 4A2b. Carryover is a seniority based issue. If you're senior enough to hold it, than it's a good thing, for you, because, if nothing else, it gives you additional flexibility in creating your quality of life. At the same time, if you're not senior enough to hold it, it's a bad thing, because not only do you not have that additional flexibility, but you have to watch others who do, and that runs against the grain of the vast majority of us, senior or not. You can be sure that the number 2 guy in the entire system is jealous of the carryover trips that the number 1 guy is getting. It's human nature.
