No kidding, If all you see is Romulus (the city the airport is in, you are going to be depressed) I'm up in Farmington Hills (25 minutes to the employee lot), and it is really pretty nice. Livonia, Northville, Novi, Wixom, Walled Lake...just as nice as any place around Cincinnati. Plenty of parks, and Ann Arbor, Royal Oak, Novi, and the Casino's for night life. Also on days of sporting events all the bars around the stadiums.
I did stray into a not so great part of the city the other day, (McNichols and Lasher, I don't recommend going there) Went to a closed high school track to run...that was a bit of a mistake on my part.
Winters are not much different than CVG and JFK. Except the people here can actually drive in the snow and our chili doesn't suck.
You had me, until you said it's as nice as anywhere near CVG. I can't stand CVG, or anything around it (or the sucky meat/water sauce they call chili)
As for MSP, I was in the hotel van and the driver was telling a story. He said, "When it gets cold out here..." Now, it was -10F when he said that, and I promptly stopped him mid sentence to question just what he defined as cold. He said, "Oh, this ain't cold. It gets to -30, -40 sometimes."
That is when I decided that humans should not inhabit such places!
