As most of you are aware, the Spirit Airlines pilots went on strike at 0501 June 12. In order to help our fellow pilots at Spirit you have seen several emails from the XJT MEC concerning a temporary enhanced Jumpseat Priority. Today we received word that Spirit Airlines management has turned off their CASS system severely affecting their pilots’ ability to jumpseat.
*
It is more important now than ever that we make “The Walk” through the gate area and verify that there are no Spirit pilots trying to jumpseat.
*
Since the Spirit CASS system was shut down, we have made another adjustment to the jumpseat priority. Spirit pilots will now be awarded the aft jumpseat ahead of all other pilots except ExpressJet pilots.* Effective immediately and until further notice, the following jumpseat priorities will be in effect for the flight deck jumpseat.* Note that without CASS approval, no pilot outside the Continental family is permitted to ride in the flight deck, so please make every effort to accommodate any Spirit pilot wishing to catch a ride in an open cabin seat.

I encourage each of you to print this edition of the Jet Link and carry it with you as many of the gate agents may not receive the word that we have made this temporary change to the ExpressJet Jumpseat Priority.
