Default XJT ALPA Support for Spirit Pilots

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is MEC Chairman Chris Cashmareck with an alert concerning the Spirit pilots’ strike.
*
Spirit pilots set the parking brake this morning at 5:01 a.m. Again, your XJT MEC supports their efforts. We know a number of Spirit pilots will be stuck throughout their system now that the strike is in effect, and because of this, we must give them our full support.
*
Effective immediately and until further notice, the new XJT jumpseat priority for flight deck jumpseat both in COEX and UAX operations and for Cabin (Aft) Jumpseat in COEX only will be as follows:
*
Continental Express Flights:
*
1) XJT Pilots
2) XJT Dispatchers
3) Continental/Continental Express/Continental Connection Pilots
4) Continental Dispatchers
5) Spirit Pilots
6) OAL Pilots
7) OAL Dispatchers
*
*United Express Flights:
*
1) XJT Pilots
2) XJT Dispatchers
3) United/United Express Pilots
4) United Dispatchers
5) Spirit Pilots
6) OAL Pilots
7) OAL Dispatchers
*
The temporary Aft*jumpseat boarding priority is as follows:
*
Continental Express Flights:
*
1) XJT Flight Attendants
2) Continental/Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants
3) XJT Pilots
4) XJT Dispatchers/Mechanics
5) Continental/Continental Express/Continental Connection Pilots
6) Spirit Pilots
*
Your MEC encourages you to join our Spirit brothers and sisters on the picket line. Information will be updated via VARS 877-SPA-ALPA (877-772-2572).
*
In unity,
*
Capt. Chris Cashmareck
XJT MEC Chairman

As most of you are aware, the Spirit Airlines pilots went on strike at 0501 June 12. In order to help our fellow pilots at Spirit you have seen several emails from the XJT MEC concerning a temporary enhanced Jumpseat Priority. Today we received word that Spirit Airlines management has turned off their CASS system severely affecting their pilots’ ability to jumpseat.
*
It is more important now than ever that we make “The Walk” through the gate area and verify that there are no Spirit pilots trying to jumpseat.
*
Since the Spirit CASS system was shut down, we have made another adjustment to the jumpseat priority. Spirit pilots will now be awarded the aft jumpseat ahead of all other pilots except ExpressJet pilots.* Effective immediately and until further notice, the following jumpseat priorities will be in effect for the flight deck jumpseat.* Note that without CASS approval, no pilot outside the Continental family is permitted to ride in the flight deck, so please make every effort to accommodate any Spirit pilot wishing to catch a ride in an open cabin seat.
*
Continental Express Flights:
1)**** ExpressJet Pilots
2)**** ExpressJet Dispatchers
3)**** Continental / Continental Express/ Continental Connection Pilots
4)**** Continental Dispatchers
5)*** Spirit Pilots
6)**** OAL Pilots
7)**** OAL Dispatchers*
*
United Express Flights:
*
1)**** ExpressJet Pilots
2)**** ExpressJet Dispatchers
3)**** United/United Express Pilots
4)**** United Dispatchers
5)*** Spirit Pilots
6)**** OAL Pilots
7)**** OAL Dispatchers
*
Aft jumpseat on Continental Express Flights:
*
1)*** ExpressJet Flight Attendants
2)*** Continental/Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants
3)*** ExpressJet Pilots
4)*** ExpressJet Dispatchers/Mechanics
5)*** Spirit Pilots
6)*** Continental / Continental Express / Continental Connection Pilots
*
*
I encourage each of you to print this edition of the Jet Link and carry it with you as many of the gate agents may not receive the word that we have made this temporary change to the ExpressJet Jumpseat Priority.
