in an emergency situation even if the mask seal leaks a bit its probably not a big problem with facial hair .. i suspect it goes back to military pilots not wearing a beard so as to insure a good seal for long periods of time on O2.... as long as its not scraggly I could care less.... Hell if some guys would just comb their hair once in a while it would be an improvement.
