A two year upgrade?

Huh? So if I said three years to upgrade at CAL and I'm able to upgrade next year, then that is 3 years for me (I've been here two years already). We've had a lot of retirements at the end of the year (two a day+ in November), some early, so yes, I'm 100 away from upgrade in EWR 737. Why is that confusing?

Of course this is based on current trends. There are lots of more senior pilots than me that are FO's and may stay FO's. 767/777 (787 soon) FO's do alright, so why upgrade to junior 737 CA in EWR. It's a choice a pilot makes based on what they want. I live near EWR (can sit reserve at home). I need money. I'll most likely upgrade ASAP. I'm in no hurry to upgrade, but bills need paid, so I may have to.

All this may change. New hires now make take longer than 3-4 years.? Two years ago, when I was hired, things were a little different. Two years from today, things may be different too- good or bad different. For now CAL has a lot of retirements and EWR 737 CA is a junior position, so upgrade looks good. I hope this clears it up for you.
