If it is true, how many UAL furloughees would actually take a job at the bottom with Skywest?
This is just my opinion: Obviously with the ASA furloughs being recalled there is one less layer the poolies have to wait for. SkyWest is obligated to "offer" UAL furloughs spots at SkyWest. They do not have to wait for acceptance. There is a big difference there. Next the climate is VERY different than the last time United pilots were offered jobs at SkyWest. Five years ago our growth was so fast and big that furloughed United pilots were able to jump over senior SkyWest pilots because they had the minimum qualifications to upgrade (2500 TT, 1000 crew environment/121 experience). That will not be the case this time around. Virtually every First Officer at SkyWest can now upgrade if that opportunity opens up, so a United pilot that accepts the SkyWest offer will now sit several years at the bottom of a list and have to wait their turn to upgrade. I would assume that from that fact alone, not too many United furloughs will take the SkyWest offer. I think that is good news for the poolies and qualified pilots looking for their first opportunity.

Again, this is my own opinion.

Newty,

I am sure all CRJ classes will be handled the same way the last classes were ran in the spring. You will get your shot at the jet before anyone junior to you (including new hires). Your days of low paying misery may be nearing an end. Your life on reserve however.....!
