Highly unlikely and if someone "official" from EK actually said that, they are lying to attract pilots. If you look at the schedule for new aircraft, barring DEC's (I'll leave that to others to speculate on), it is going to take you between 5 to 7 years minimum to get yourself halfway up the list. Right now, guys doing their upgrades have been here about 4 years and that number is just going to get bigger given that the airline (pretty young pilot group) really needs to double for you to get your command (some have upgraded faster but on average, that's been what has happened for the upgrade). The bigger the airline, the longer it is going to take. Plan on 7 years and if it happens sooner - be happy.
Unless they are expecting an exodus as hiring picks up elsewhere.
