The day I put in my application w/DAL (and before any of my internals/externals even had a chance to send their recs in), I got the interview offer. At the interview, I got the "conditional job offer," and if the hiring continues as DAL expects, will retire next year just in time to drive to ATL. Obviously, the job offer could vaporize with a change w/the industry and economy, but it's infinitely better than a kick in the junk.

I'd advise you put your app in early and keep it updated.
