It is good at another airline, just not Part 61 (although some got away with it). When I was doing mine, I asked the CMH FSDO and received a "letter of interpretation" from them that basically said that - if I got recalled or hired at another 121, use it "expired". But for the Part 61 checkride, I had to take it again.
