We just put Garmin 400s in our company 1900s. We upgraded them from a KLN 90. One thing I noticed is the 400 doesnt seem to have route memory like the 90 did. For example if you type in KGRR in the 90 once you get past inputing the "G" it will enter the rest. Does the G400 have the capability to do this? Is this something that can be changed in the setting somewhere?
The Garmin 530/430 series, which includes the 400, does not suppose to auto-enter waypoints. From what I understand, the auto-entries led to expectancy and keystroke errors. There is not a setting for this as of yet.
In the G1000s, a counter-clockwise click of the little knob in waypoint entry fields will bring up flight plan and nearest selections. Hit CLR to erase and retry the waypoint .
