The biggest problem with ALPA is the legal staff. I think you have many well intentioned pilots who go to National office hoping to make some changes and the lawyers there do everything they can to stop change. I have seen it first hand. I have been told by ALPA lawyers "we shouldn't fight because we might lose and then there will be a legal precedence to be used against us in the future." I am not speaking of some lowly CA either, I have heard that from lawyers at the top. These lawyers have been with ALPA for 20 or 30 years, talk about entrenched! If we could get rid of the lawyers we might be able to salvage the union.

I think ALPA has a great infrastructure but infiltration with the hopes of true change is all but impossible. At this point a clean slate is the best we can hope for.
