In that case, the planes didn't come from Mesaba they came from Saab, so the pilots don't come with them. This is why everyone should be pushing for one list as soon as possible, there's always a way around an agreement if one party wants to look hard enough.
I was only referring to active Mesaba aircraft, the example you provided is entirely possible. Contract negotiations are moving fast, we will see how fast once they get to the meatier parts of it.
