Careful what you wish for. Colgan pilots may find themselves dealing with Mesaba scope issues if we start taking their planes and putting them on our routes, who has rights to the flying?

If we're going to end up on one list...who cares?

The Mesaba contract states the pilots go with the planes, so Mesaba pilots would have to fly them until our lists are merged.

How about every Colgan pilot who is flying a Saab for Colgan right now?

Except the planes are leased by Delta, so then Mesaba lease returns the airplanes and Pinnacle corp turns around and leases them back from Saab. In that case, the planes didn't come from Mesaba they came from Saab, so the pilots don't come with them. This is why everyone should be pushing for one list as soon as possible, there's always a way around an agreement if one party wants to look hard enough.

I was only referring to active Mesaba aircraft, the example you provided is entirely possible. Contract negotiations are moving fast, we will see how fast once they get to the meatier parts of it.

I hope Mesaba pilots continue flying them. There is no reason for Colgan to hire while Mesaba furloughs.

We need to start thinking more in terms of a single pilot group instead of Mesaba vs. Colgan. Mesaba will surely get opportunities to staff new flying (if new Saab flying is a reality).
