Default Question on number of Colgan Q400's

I have been getting conflicting info. Perhaps some in the know can chime in. How many Q-400's does Colgan have coming. This site states 15 additional to the previous 15. I have heard from at least one person who states that there are 30 coming..which would make for a total of 45.Mesaba is losing its Delta flying for 28 Saabs starting in Jan. according to this site. If Colgan has 30 Q400's coming..should be enough flying for all. If only an additional 15 Q400's...well, the math doesn't add up for the total number of pilots involved. (unless Pinnicle has some additional flying coming up for the Mesaba Saabs that I am unaware of)Thanks in advance for the info from those who know whats actually ordered or options held.

From what I understand, there will be 30 Q400s on property after these deliveries. Colgan has options for 30 additional Q400s (60 total). Of those, 15 will be delivered starting in 2013ish. There are no plans for the other 15 right now.

Mesaba will be losing their 26 Saabs starting in January. The leases are owned by Delta so Pinnacle/Colgan/Mesaba would have to take over the leases and find flying for them.

Thanks PropDriver.
If I follow correctly the last of Mesaba's Saab flying will be gone by early 2012. The additional Q400s won't start arriving for another year.
It sounds to me like surplus of crews for 11 aircraft for a year or so..depending on delivery schedule.
The good news is...all this is 2 years away and much can change by then so as to keep everyone employed.
Good luck to all.

Well, almost...

We will finish taking delivery of the current order by May 2011, which will be 29 total Q400's on property. The next set of 15 aircraft (options only at this point) are for summer / fall 2011. If we exercised these options (which are not for CAL) we would then have a total of 44. Then in 2013 we have options for 15 more just for CAL. That would be a total of 59, I don't know if/when we're getting a replacement aircraft for 3407.

Clear as mud?

Yeah, I thought the 2011 options were already confirmed.

That would not shock me at all. Those B+ models have a lot of life left in them and there are plenty of little crap holes in this country that would be so lucky to have Saab service in their community.

Thanks for the info.
Hopefully they will exercise those options for 2011...hopefully time them for the parking of the Saabs and keep everyone working.
Sometimes the magic works.

The Saab fleet manager told our class he's trying to convince the bean counters at corporate to do that
