It's a craps shoot, man. If you skip the j/s and NR (as you did) you risk not getting a seat while an OAL goes. If you sign up for the j/s and skip the NR, then you could get bumped by a last minute DAL guy while a buddy pass gets "your" seat. Bottom line: commuting sucks when you have to rely on a carrier you don't work for. Move to domicile if you can. I commuted for 5 years, then finally threw in the towel.
Moved to domicile. Displaced and back to commuting. Moving to domicile is not a guarantee unless you work for a legacy. But that isn't a sure thing either. Note: TWA, Pan Am, Eastern.
