Wrong! Every place I've worked at , your required to be a certificated mechanic and pass the training and be signed off by a designated/qualified trainer to Taxi. It is funny how quick everyone is to throw the mechanics under the bus and act like pilots never make mistakes.

I was refering to PILOT licences and training. Plus, what does being a "certificated mechanic" have to do with being able to taxi an airplane? Is Saab 340 taxiing a course that is required for an A&P? What other skill sets come with being a "certificated mechanic?" Of course pilots make mistakes as well but there is a reason why most planes are pulled with a tug.
And yes, I do know what happened.
