DL and NW did relax scope and it is up to us to fix the problem. I have stated on many prior post why independence vs. ALPA would be much better. I'm not going to continue to rehash it all again. Suffice it to say conflict of interest.
We have a society that has an aversion to taking responsibility for its own screw ups. Your pilots agreed to relaxed scope, not Comair pilots, ASA, or Mesba pilots. Only your group can solve this probelm and your group will profit or suffer from the result (or lack there of) of your solution.
You want to leave ALPA because its poorly run, bloated, or not cost affective, fine. Just remember ALPA is an association of unions, with your fellow airline pilots.
We are not an island in ALPA, we get advise from national. They have a heavy hand in molding our reps. Our reps seem to sing a different tune after indoc and service within ALPA. IMO, they seem to have more allegiance to ALPA, than our own pilots over time. Do you think they (national) are going to disseminate information to these associations or their reps that would be harmful to ALPA itself?
True, some ALPA groups fly under your colors, but again, they did not create themselves, you and your fellow pilots at DAL and NWA let these companies be. As an independent, you will flight the fight alone. Good luck and God speed!
Moak's last letter to us, RJ scope wasn't even mentioned as a threat, when he was giving a laundry list of current threats. WHY??? Was it to get elected??? Maybe. But why would I want to keep ALPA when it taints our own people? They lose sight of the membership for their own agenda. It seems RJ scope is becoming taboo for the ALPA elite to discuss. They are trying to walk a tightrope with the majors holding one end and the regionals holding the other.
As far as independence, I would rather fight alone than with ALPA's help. Look no further than ALPA supporting 500 hr. minimums at 121s instead of 1500 hr. Who needs enemies when you have friends like ALPA!
