There is likely a comment on your EAD orders to the effect that you will serve to a particular date "unless sooner relieved." There are a couple guys already putting in re-retirement paperwork. It'll have to get approved by their chain and AFPC. If you're overseas, you'll also have to get a DEROS curtailment approved. I have no idea how likely it is to happen, and I expect it'll be case-by-case. But it's worth a shot, all they can say is "no."
I'll ask the question about early re-retirements (and extensions) next month when I meet with the HAF manning guys.
BTW, when looking at USAJobs, make sure to look for "Program Analyst." That's the generic position description for "staff officer." "Pilot" on USAJobs is for flying positions, not staff. And AMC tends to use "Air Transportation Manager" to describe their staff jobs.
