As we are all trying to measure our private parts to man up each other you cannot deny certain facts regarding the current make up of both carriers. *With 26-747s and 52-777s there are almost 2200 pilots flying wide bodies at UAL and that does not include 767s. * If the 767s were part of that group that would bring it up another 600 or so to about 2800 pilots.
**The respective body count at CAL has 22-777s with about 616 pilots(approximate) and if you add in ALL 767s you are looking at about another 476 pilots for around 1100 total. *
Now this means that over 1/3 of UAL pilots are flying wide-bodies and less than 1/4 of CAL are flying wide bodies based on what CAL defines as a wide-body. *
Another interesting factual comparison regarding the 757s. * UAL has 97planes with about 1358 pilots flying them. *CAL has 62 planes with approx. 868 pilots flying them. *
When comparing the entire A320 at UAL to the entire 737 fleet at CAL the relative comparison is reversed. *
Now before you get your panties up in a twist, this doesn't make UAL the Wide Body Kings as some arrogant PhukHair put it but it doesn't make CAL the SkyKings either. * It is just a factual fleet/manpower comparison. * *To some these comparisons mean everything to others it means nothing.*
The bottom line here is that both sides need to stuff their egos and attitudes into a box so we can get to an agreement and get this deal under one certificate so we can all enjoy the maximum benefit of this merger. I don't care about how anyone feels about this merger. *It is a done deal and we have to move forward. *
I guess we need to park a whole bunch of our 737's to get the WB ratio up.....?
