I'd say they are being loyal to the Delta Pilots in their view. Not sure agree, but this is what I think they are thinking......

If they(the current volunteers) feel that the present structure is more beneficial to the Delta Pilots, and that the many benefits, services, skills, and knowledge the "volunteer specialists" bring to the pilots would disappear if an alternate association is put in place; then it would have an effect of discouraging votes for the alternative bargaining agent....therefore keeping a more effective (in their eyes) structure in place, which results in having the better long-term option (again in their eyes) in place to serve the Delta Pilots.

This is how they are "showing their loyalty" to the Delta Pilots.
