Default Union + Education = Unity

A Unified Pilot Group...great idea!!!

Let's start with EDUCATION...I would say that 80% of the Complete-The-Mission-Pilots I fly with have no idea what SWA makes, or any other airline for that matter. When you attempt to educate them, they give you the stink eye and pull out the Standard-Mission-ALPA answer: "yeah...but what about their work rules...pay isn't everything!" At that point it is useless to let them know that their work rules are way better too!

I don't blame them...It is ALPA's responsibility to educate the masses. For starters, maybe one of those highly paid secretaries at ALPA can create a document to put in our V files titled....."Comparing the DAL PWA to UPS, FedEx, ALK, AMR, SWA, JBLU"

This would be a first step towards unifying the pilot group towards a common goal. Until the entire group of pilots are educated and armed with information (specifically what is inside the PWA of our competitors), polls are useless in determining a starting point in 2012.
