It should be.
What if we took it a step further. What if ALPA labor was a fixed cost?
An ALPA 757 pilot at Ucal/Dal/or any ALPA carrier that operates them has a set floor.
How do we get from here to there? How can we make such a change? How does it work that this is the case with RR's?
You don't under the RLA. If the RLA were to be repealed which is not likely then you have a chance. To understand how important the RLA is to management you need only take a look at Fedex. Fedex does not belong under the RLA. They are a package delivery company. A bill was placed in Congress to remove them from the RLA. Fred Smith was so concerned about this happening that he wrote into his aircraft purchase contracts that all his orders could be canceled if Fedex were removed from the RLA. He went right to Congress and told them he would buy all Airbuses and cancel every Boeing order if they followed through. The bill died a quiet death.
