Is your job at a major airline gonna be there to wipe your a s s when you're 80? Its all about family people, not this stupid career. Having the goal to get to a major is a great one to have, but not at the expense of yourself and your family. Its pretty damn selfish to put your family through a job at the Colgan's of the industry. To each his own, but this career is becoming less and less worth it every day. I truly love what I do, but its watching people give their lives for this stupid job that is going to make me quit in the end, not the job itself.
It's not pathetic. It's playing the system... your entire existence is dependent on one thing and one thing alone - your date of hire... nothing else. Absolutely NOTHING ELSE! Your type ratings, your experience, your time in this industry, your accolades, NOTHING... just your date of hire. Those other things are just means to get that one thing - date of hire on the seniority list.
So what do you expect? Reasoning? Rational thinking? Pride? Sorry, it doesn't mean a thing in the airline industry - only your date of hire.
As people say, "don't hate the playa, hate the game."
