A couple of years ago, I applied for the ANA 767 commuting contract in Japan. I was offered the job, but since I was in the FedEx hiring pool, I was concerned about whether taking the job would affect my standing and my pre-hire requirements (specifically, living outside of the U.S.).

I called the head of pilot recruitment directly and he clearly told me, that since the ANA contract is a commuting one, there would be no problem.

Ended up not taking the job, but, learned that it would have been OK.
