If the company is willing to come to the table and play ball with substance, I will be the first to line up to 'play'. Until then, doing the negotiations half-a$$ for the sake of doing it "quick" makes NO SENSE. If the negotiation process is considered a two way street, then the company best step up in order to drive on it as well.
This (J)CBA will most likely going to a "Once in a Career" shot to draft/vote/get the Industry Leading CBA that WE all deserve....especially after years of 'un-paid loans' that BOTH sides have suffered at the hands of their pre-merger Mgt. Call the extra 12-18 months an eternity, but taking the time to "ink something right", is nothing short of "worth it".
FUPM....."now".
I agree 100%! Let's get this thing done RIGHT!
Until the company decides that they want to negotiate in good faith there is NOTHING we can do at the table. As far as I know, the company has yet to present any counter proposals to our Dec proposal! So what should we do? Beg? There are some SOLID RED LINES that we shouldn't even consider crossing, so this won't likely happen fast anyway. Heck, fuel is rocketing skyward as I type... That bolsters the companies position on compensation, but it probably makes 50 seat flying look even more heinous than it aleady is! Has there ever been a more complicated negotiation at any airline?
What WE can do is present a unified pilot group that knows and flys their respective CBA!! Anyone doing favors to the company now is only extending our collective pain. We MUST clearly show them that the status quo is not good for them either. I will not be waiving any part of my contract, accepting voluntary provisions (JRM, Ops incentive, Engine Run, etc...), or doing anyone elses job to keep the wheels greased. I'm not advocating or participating in a job action...but if the company is so pleased with my current contract -- then it's my duty to adhere to it.
Let's keep focused on getting the results we need and not get sidetracked by all the BS along the way. It's going to be a painful 1-2 years...accept it and move forward.
