A lot of 9k pilots just ask the people already based in the particular location what the scoop is regarding housing. Depending on the location, not many pilots actually have true crashpads since the amount of commuting pilots is lower than most groups. Aside from that, it's pretty tough to commute on a junior line to an outstation that is only served by Cape Air. Not impossible, but very stressful.
